Once the site has been constructed it must be saved before publication. This is accomplished either by clicking the 'Save' button or through the 'File' dropdown menu.
As with most standard Windows programs, the 'Save As' option appears under the 'File' dropdown menu inside Netscape Composer. Once you have decided on an appropriate name for your document, type it and click the 'Save' button. Web pages also need titles. Composer now presents a dialogue box asking for a title to be entered. Enter the appropriate title for your page and then click the 'OK' button. Once the page has been properly saved Composer will be ready to publish the document. The upload process may be started by clicking the 'Publish' button on the toolbar. This dialogue box displays the settings that Composer will use to publish your page. There are three pieces of information we need to enter here. One is the host. The other two are the username and password. Once the document has been published to the server, Composer will return to its initial screen. Note that no indication is given that the upload was successful, other than the absence of an error message. As always, it is wisest to visit the URL for the site and verify that the file is displaying properly. |
